How to Use Social Media to Grow Your Business

If you mean serious business, I highly recommend building a strong social media presence. A large fraction of the world’s population uses social media to connect with their families as well as different brands. Social media is also used to communicate with businesses. If your business isn’t on social media yet, here are a few key facts you must consider about each platform.

Facebook

To date, Facebook has the largest number of monthly active users worldwide. According to the latest numbers, there are around 2 billion active users – that’s about 28% of the world population. There around 9 million Facebook-integrated apps and websites plus 42 million Facebook pages. Lately, it became harder to grow Facebook pages organically as the company gives more focus on paid advertisements.

Twitter

Twitter allows users to share short pieces of content as well as content URLs, images, and videos. Twitter has around 328 million monthly active users all around the globe. It utilizes hashtags to help the users categorize the content. It’s both effective as content distribution and customer service platform.

Instagram

Instagram is a Facebook-owned company that focuses on visual content, which includes photographs and videos. The platform has over 700 million users. Some of the common niche found on IG are food, fashion, travel, art, and photography. It comes with a set of filters which you can customize to your liking. To grow your page, you should make sure you use crisp photos plus the right hashtags and engage with the community.

YouTube

YouTube has over 1 billion active monthly users. This platform allows you to publish, share, rate and comment on video content. Around 300 hours of videos are published on YouTube within one minute. There is an extensive range of content you can find on YouTube, which includes How-To videos, news, entertainment, and product unboxing. For businesses, they use YouTube to share promotional videos and collaborate with influencers for product placements.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn may not be as popular as the rest of the platform but it’s very useful for business owners who want to grow their network. It has a more professional vibe compared to other social media platforms since user profiles are treated like online resumes. There are more than 250 million users who use the platform every month.

Do I Need to Use All Social Media Platform?

You don’t need to be on every social media platform. It will be hard to keep up with all your channels. If you want to have a healthy and genuine engagement with your customers or followers, I personally suggest using at most three channels. Invest in channels that your target customers utilize. Make sure you to consistently publish high-quality content so you can build your brand and attract more followers.

How Do I Use the Platform(s) I choose)?

Start by setting up your account. Large companies often use their logo, while small business owners choose a smiling photo for their profile pictures. Make sure that you customize the page information, profile bio, company information, and contact details. Once you’re done, you can start creating your social media marketing strategy so you can do the following:

  • Distribute Content and Engage with followers
  • Launch Campaigns and Capture Leads
  • Gain Customer Insights and Measure Campaign Results
  • Drive traffic to your business website
  • Encourage target customers to make a purchase
  • Boost your revenue without blowing your marketing budget
  • Become an authority in your industry
  • Attract a larger audience in your target niche or area
  • Setup events and invite guests easily
  • Listen to what other users or brands say about your business
  • Analyze your current market and learn about your prospects
  • Monitor your competitors and their marketing strategies
